The Republic of San Marino is the smallest, oldest and independent Republic in the world. Its foundation, standing to the tradition, is dated 301 A.D.
Situated at 
43' 46" lat. North, 12' 25" long. East, San Marino is completely surrounded by the Italian territory, on the border between the Regions Emilia Romagna and Marche.
Capital is San Marino.

Territory

The territory is composed by 9 'municipalities' called "Castelli" (Castles) : San Marino, Acquaviva, Borgo Maggiore, Chiesanuova, Domagnano, Faetano, Fiorentino, Monte Giardino and Serravalle.
Each "Castello" is leaded by a "Mayor" called "Capitano di Castello" (Captain of the Castle).

The head of the State and of the Government is composed by two "Capitani Reggenti" (Captain Regents), elected on 6 months terms by the "Consiglio Grande e Generale" (Great and General Council).
The Great and General Council is the legislative branch. Composed by 60 Members elected by universal suffrage on 5 years term, it elects the "Congress of State", the executive branch, in which take parts the 10 'Ministers' called "Secretaries of State".

Health San Marino is the Country with the highest life expectancy in the world.

The border between San Marino and Italy is a free border. All those with a regular visa to Italy (if required) is free to enter in San Marino.
